Uber 388 challenges the conventional ways of perceiving a 5-storey condominium block by adopting an architectural concept which separates the lower levels from the upper. Its distinctive linear attribute is accentuated through the dialectics of its two parts, intentionally designed to be different in terms of materials and treatment of façade.
While the first two levels takes on a more minimalist approach of appearing almost invisible through the use of dark grey-tinted reflective glass, the upper three levels are articulated in a completely different but compatible language. The main use of concrete and light grey-tinted clear glass create an illusion that is more solid and opaque above its lower counterpart, thus creating a floating effect above ground.
The floating blocks are linked and adorned with extruded balconies which run along its facades, an integral feature further emphasizing its linearity as a whole. It is evident how the dialogue between opposites can result in a piece of architecture that is contradictory and yet elegant at the same time a piece that captures through its perfectly balanced duality.
